Earl Wooden
S/Sgt. Earl Tedford Wooden was assigned to the 301st BG 353rd Squadron.
Memories
After the war was over and back home, Earl and his brother (a radio repairman in the Army helping to maintain the radio equipment that transmitted homing signals for bombers returning from raids out of India, and later Okinawa) discussed their experiences during the war. Earl told my father that after each terrifying bombing mission was over and the crew was back on the ground, they would climb out of the planes, kiss the ground, thank God, and vow never to fly again, but after a few days of inactivity, boredom, and the patriotism and emotions from seeing their fellow crew members going out on missions, they would be eager to go up again, only to repeat the scenario all over again!
