David C Casteel - Dottie Mae
From 1943-45, David C. Casteel, a former Flight Chief for the 301st Bomb Group, 352nd Bomb Squadron, named his plane after his then sweetheart, "Dottie Mae." The nose art included a profile likeness of her attractive, young face.
"Dottie Mae" would very much like to discuss the plane with any of the surviving crew members or, anyone from the unit who may remember the "Dotty Mae" plane and/or her husband- David.
Mrs. Dorothy Steel would appreciate someone from your organization contacting her about the history of plane after her husband left Italy in 1945. She may be reached by mail @

I do not know this Mrs. Casteel. However, as I read her reqest for help in locating her husband's squadron, I thought I might assist her in accomplishing her goal. If the results are positive, could someone please inform me so I know her questions were answered. Thank you.
To all of you who served so gallantly during WWII, please know, those of us who served after you, did our best to fill your boots. Thank you from the bottom of my patriotic heart, for your saccrifices and service to our good country, when she needed it the most.
