TSGT Frank Conlon
I'm searching for information about a cousin of my mother’s, TSGT Frank Conlon (s/n 13023449)of the 353/301 who was listed KIA/Burial at Sea in late 1942. The “Tablets of the Missing” at Carthage, Tunisia, list him as lost on 28 Nov 1942, but the MACR 16038 cross-references with another date of 15 DEC 1942, which lists his surname, and that of two crew mates (McNeil and Shackelton) as POW, not KIA. Aircraft is possibly #24369 'Special Delivery' (15-Dec-42) or #24374 (28-Nov-42). Both references list MACR 16038.
I have requested MACR 16038 from LYNN GAMMA of AFHRA/RSA HQ. She tells me it’s only a partial record, and is snail-mailing me what is available.
Any information you can help me with on his fate, and why the MACR might list two dates, will be helpful. Possibly the MACR was prepared after the war, as this loss occurred before 'official' 48-hour MACR records were kept.
