S/Sgt. Joseph Mangano - 32nd Squadron

I was the ball turret gunner on a 32nd Sqd. B-17. We were shot down over Verona, Italy March 22, 1944. We ditched several miles off shore in the Adriatic Sea. A Naval vessel picked us up late that night and put us ashore. A little hazy on the details but we all made it back to our squadron, Foggia, Italy. Guess what?. My next mission March 28, was back to Verona. I was not a happy camper but the Lord took care of me and I was able to complete my credited 50 missions by May 12, 1944. I have been in touch with our pilot, Doug Moore, living in California. Former Staff Sergeant, Joseph Mangano, Hermitage, Joseph Mangano One Main Street Hermitage PA 00000 xxxxx@xxxxx.com
